It explores the raw, uncensored relationship of Tommy and Donna - two people caught between their identities and their love for each other. The two young lovers who come to blows when the girl discovers that her boyfriend has been cheating on her with her younger sister Afraid of losing him, the girl seeks the counsel of her father, a former artist who stopped painting after the death of his wife whom he abused. Out of sympathy with his daughter, the father agrees to go give her boyfriend an ultimatum, but his identification with the younger man forces him to want to educate the object of his daughter's passionate affections about the often inscrutable nature of love.
Simultaneously hilarious and heartbreaking, Dreamer invites us to boldly make life’s big mistakes in pursuit of life beyond mere existence.
